I built a vacuum table

I built this.

At the Goodwill Computer Museum where I volunteer twice a week, I’m in charge of learning and perfecting our tabletop CNC router. We’ve been having trouble holding stuff in place while still allowing clearance for the cutter arm to come over the board. Solution? Vacuum table!

I drew up the designs on Saturday morning, bought the materials at Home Depot, and cut the pieces that afternoon. This morning I finished drilling out the holes for the vacuum chamber and then glued it all together. It was dry by tonight and initial testing is very encouraging. The board has most of its suction on the third closest to the hose hookup, but I’m hoping a more powerful shop vac will provide a wider/stronger suction. We’ll see when I test it at the GCM tomorrow!
